I'm a stop-motion animator and sci-fi writer from a little west of Chicago. I'm also an ESL teacher! After studying English and writing, I lived and taught for a while in South Korea and then checked out other parts of the world before landing here in Denver. As a teacher, I love watching my students make new discoveries and become confident users of language. As a human outside of teaching, I care deeply about sculpture, animation, cooking, playing video games, the Chicago Cubs, and anything related to outer space.
I was born near Denver, grew up in Texas, then moved back to Colorado after graduating from college. I've lived here most of my life, but have traveled all over the U.S. and to several countries. I've been teaching ESL since 2010, when I went to China to teach high school students. Later, I went to Japan and taught university students for three years. I also tutor students from all over the world online and have a certificate in TEFL. Additionally, I have a master's degree in Library Science, and was a librarian for seven years before I started teaching. I am an avid runner and hiker, and an experienced backpacker. I also love to knit, read and drink coffee! It is my mission to empower students to confidently pursue their educational goals and to have fun along the way. I'm so happy to be here and I look forward to meeting you!

I am originally from Hopewell Junction, NY, which is 1.5 hours north of NYC. I have also lived in Arizona, California, Minnesota and South Korea. Currently, I hold a BA in English Literature from Northern Arizona University and I am conducting compositional research to complete my MA in TESL from St. Cloud State University. I love working with students from other cultures and believe education is a means to personal empowerment - no matter the subject. I love seeing my students gain confidence in using English, as well as learning about their cultures, personal stories and experiences. I have been married since 2005 to my wife Sarah and we have one daughter Nadia and are expecting another daughter this November.
Hello! My name is Jena. Although I have lived many other places, both in the U.S. and abroad, I am a Colorado native at heart. I grew up doing many outdoor activities with my family, like hiking, skiing, rafting, etc. and still continue to love to spend my time exploring the outdoors. However, I would also describe myself as a homebody because curling up on the couch with coffee and a book or ice cream and a movie sound equally appealing. While in university, I did two study abroad programs, one in Cork, Ireland, and the other in Amman, Jordan. I studied Arabic in Jordan, and can still read and write it. I have taught English both in Colorado and in Germany. I love meeting new people from around the world, learning more about other cultures, and getting other perspectives on life. I also love language and grammar rules! I look forward to working with you!
“I was born and raised in Colorado for 17 years, from there I moved to California and again to Arizona. However, Colorado was home so I found myself right back here 4 years later. I enjoy long walks on the beach, or up a mountain. When I’m not working, my hobbies range from avid concert going to escaping to a secluded spot in the wilderness for a weekend of camping. When I am working, I love going on Friday Activities and talking with everybody, learning more and more about different cultures around the world. Stop by and say hello!”
I grew up here in the metro-Denver area, before attending a small liberal arts college in Iowa. Since then, I’ve spent a decade traveling and teaching primarily in Asia. I’ve taught kindergarteners in Busan, South Korea; worked with high school students in Queretaro, Mexico while obtaining my TEFL certificate; and in Hong Kong, China I spent five years working with adult students: first at a private language school, next at a major university, and then at a vocational college.
My specialties include academic writing, social English, and test preparation. I particularly enjoy making challenging topics as fun as possible J. I have a bachelor’s degree in Classical Studies & Philosophy, while my Master’s degree is in Education.
I am originally from Austin, Texas and just recently moved to Colorado with my husband. I attended Texas A&M University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness. During college I volunteered with international students and worked as an intern for International Student Services.
I love welcoming international students to America and learning about other cultures. My travels abroad include Bosnia, Canada, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Greece, Haiti, Mexico, and Turkey. I was born here in Denver, but I grew up on the north side of Atlanta, Georgia with my family. While living in Georgia, I attended Georgia State University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics and a TEFL Certificate to teach English. I worked abroad in Panama in various teaching positions, and while I was abroad, I found my passion for teaching. I enjoy working at CSE because I have met so many wonderful people from all over the world, and I enjoy learning about different cultures. In my free time I love to hike, snowboard, paddleboard, and explore new places. Living in Colorado is great because I love the outdoors, and I live an active lifestyle.
My father named me Ameir so I could be considered a true Ameirican. Huh? I'll just let that sink in, savor it. You're welcome. When I'm not tormenting students with poor attempts at humor, you can find me in the saddle biking from one large body of water to another. A few of my favorite things include: coffee, fast food, thrift store shopping, playing chicken with cars, and procrastinati..
