Program Philosophy:

The Faculty of Colorado School of English believe that effective teaching requires a familiarity with learning and language acquisition theories, knowledge of ESL teaching methodologies, cultural sensitivity and the confidence and ability to spark motivation in the ESL/EFL student. Our goal is to provide each of our participants with the opportunities to develop his/her own "bag of tricks" and to practice using them in order to present dynamic lessons in the classroom.

Program Content:

The TESL/TEFL Certificate Program is a full-time program offering a study of theory, methodology, presentation styles and issues, classroom management and cultural sensitivity. Round table discussions allow the student to develop a personal teaching philosophy and share relevant experiences relating to teaching and to international living. The program is divided into three terms, and includes 10 hours of observation of professional classes and 30 hours of teaching practice. These observation and practicum hours are scheduled according to participants needs, class times, and teacher availability.
