Updated: Dec 15, 2020

Are you living and working in the US? Do you need to improve your English for work or school? If so, our English for Residents program would be perfect for you!

This program is flexible and you can study either part-time or full-time. We have classes during the day and during the evening, so you can choose whatever works best for you! You can start your program any Monday.

What is the class schedule?

Our Day Program is offered 4 days/week, Monday through Thursday. All classes are divided by level. We currently have 4 different levels (based on the Global Scale of English). All times are listed in Colorado Mountain Time. You can enroll in any of the following courses:

  • Reading & Writing: Monday through Thursday @ 9:30am - 11:00am

  • Grammar: Monday through Thursday @ 11:05am - 12:35pm

  • Speaking & Listening or TOEFL Preparation: Monday through Thursday @ 1:05pm - 2:35pm

  • Note: in order to qualify for the TOEFL Preparation class, you must test into the upper intermediate level.

In our Evening Program, we offer three different courses:

  • Intro to English Review: Tuesday & Thursday @ 6:30pm - 8:30pm

  • TOEFL Preparation: Monday and Wednesday @ 6:30pm - 8:30pm

  • English Review: Tuesday & Thursday @ 6:30pm - 8:30pm

  • Note: in order to qualify for the English Review and TOEFL Preparation classes, you must test into the upper intermediate level.

What are my program options?

In the English for Residents program, you can study full-time or part-time. If you'd like to study full-time, tuition will cover all 3 classes in the Day Program. The full-time English for Residents program is 18 hours of class a week. This is perfect for US Residents who are new to the Denver area, need to practice English intensively and meet some new friends!

If you're not able to study full-time, we have a part-time program that is very flexible. You can purchase a package of 12 classes, called a 12-class pass, and register for whichever classes work best for your schedule. With your 12-class pass, you can attend any 12 Day classes you'd like within a 4-week period. This option is perfect for US Residents who can only attend twice a week and/or would like to attend a specific class, like TOEFL Preparation.

If you work during the day, we also have an Evening program! You can register for 1 or 2 evening classes, depending on your English level and schedule. You can purchase a package of 9 classes, called a 9-class pass. With your 9-class pass, you can attend any 9 Evening classes you'd like within a 4-week period.

Do I need to buy any books?

It depends on the program and classes you choose. There is a required textbook for the Grammar class and the TOEFL Preparation classes. The other classes do not require a textbook; we will provide all the learning materials you need. Once you are registered, we will send you a link where you can purchase any required textbooks online or you can purchase the book at the school. We sell the Grammar textbooks for $60 and the TOEFL Preparation textbooks for $40.

How do I apply?

You can fill out our application here. Make sure you select 'English for Residents' under program and answer all of the questions. The only required document that you will need to upload is a copy of your Photo ID (examples include a Colorado Driver's License or your US work authorization card). Once you have submitted your application, you will hear back from a Student Services Coordinator within 2 business days.

What's next?

Once your application is approved, you will receive an email with the next steps and a link to pay the $35 application fee. Once we've received payment for your application fee, we will send you the links to complete your placement tests. There are 4 placement tests you will need to complete: reading, writing, grammar, and speaking. After you have completed your tests, we will send you an email with your class choices.

Once you've decided on your classes, you can start classes ANY MONDAY! You can always change your class schedule after you start your classes, if needed.

How long can I study with you?

Students in the English for Residents program can study for as long as they'd like. We have students who study for as long as 3 years and as little as 1 month! We are here to help you accomplish your English goals, whether that's working on your email writing skills or improving your speaking and pronunciation.

Can you help me gain admission to a local college or university?

Yes! If your goal is to further your education at a local college or university, we can help with our Pathway to Success. We have an agreement with numerous community colleges and universities around the area. Once you have completed our classes to the highest level, our Academic Director can write you a letter of recommendation to bypass the TOEFL or IELTS test requirements. You can see more information about our Pathway to Success here.

What age are your students?

We accept students who are 16 years and older. We have students of all different ages who make up a very diverse student body from 30+ different countries!
