Jason & Sarah

Owners & Directors

We have been working in Education for over twenty years. Jason has a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Northern Arizona University and has completed Master's level coursework in TESL from St. Cloud State University. Sarah has a BA in Business Administration and an MA in Multicultural and Transnational Literature. We both have experience teaching in the U.S. in private programs and at community colleges and we also taught at a university in South Korea for six years. We love being at CSE and interacting with international students on a daily basis.

I grew up north of Boulder on a 5-acre farm and got my B.A. in International Affairs from CU Boulder. I have lived in the U.S., Germany, France, Colombia, and Ecuador in the last decade and now I'm putting down roots in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Denver with my kitten and my beloved partner. Before starting at CSE, I worked as an ESL teacher for many years. I feel so lucky to work at a place where I get to learn about different cultures, empower people to achieve their goals, and use all the languages I speak (Spanish, German, & French).  Learning another language opens new doors and provides a fresh perspective on the world. I am honored to support people on this life changing journey!

I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and moved to Colorado a year ago to explore. I graduated from the University of Oregon in 2018, where I received my Bachelor's in Spanish and Anthropology. While in college, I was able to spend six weeks in Ecuador studying and practicing my Spanish. I also received a Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Certificate from my university, which I hope to use in the future to teach English. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, traveling, reading, and visiting people from all over the world.

I’m a transplant from Texas where I got my BA in English, minor in Linguistics followed by 7 years in the legal field. I decided to pursue something more meaningful and received my MA in TESOL from the University of Texas at Arlington. I first taught English in China in 2008 and more recently at a community college and university non-credit program. I’ve also taught dual-credit English Composition as well as online EFL with students in Russia, China, and Israel. I enjoy TESOL because it includes my love for linguistics and cultures, and it’s so rewarding to help students progress in their English endeavors!

I grew up near San Francisco and studied English Literature in Los Angeles. After that, I joined the Peace Corps. They sent me to a small town in Ukraine where I taught English to students of all ages. After a few years working in the U.S., I felt like I wanted to go abroad again. I thought I would just go for a year, little did I know that decision would considerably change my life. I fell in love with teaching and one year turned into ten away from home. I received a teaching certificate and spent the last five and a half years teaching some of the best high school students in Korea. I've lived in three countries and five states and now feel so lucky to have found a home in Denver at the Colorado School of English.

The English language has always been part of my journey and becoming an English teacher was somewhat natural for me. I hold a bachelor's degree in International Relations and an MBA in International Business. I started teaching English in 2012 and in 2014 I got my CELTA certificate. I consider myself to be a very multicultural person, as I not only love traveling to different places, but I also love learning about the history and anthropology of the places I visit.

I'm a traveler and language lover from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Since earning my Master's degree in Teaching English, I've taught in four countries: U.S.A, Panama, Chile, and Japan.  Once I decided to come back to the U.S., I knew I wanted to come to Colorado to enjoy all of its beauty and be around nice people.  Teaching English is what I love to do, and I learn so much from my students about their languages and cultures.  I love reading about languages, anthropology, and cognitive science.  My goal is to make learning any part of English (even the really confusing grammar) enjoyable and useful to my students.  When I'm not teaching, you'll find me cooking, hiking, watching sports, or playing my bass guitar.

I was born to an Irish American father and Russian mother in Moscow, Russia. Being a bilingual speaker has given me a unique perspective on subtle nuances of the English language. I am very passionate about teaching English and have earned my TEFL certification. I moved to Denver in 2017 after having lived, studied, and worked in Russia, Spain, and Malta. There’s nothing more rewarding than sharing knowledge with others and meeting people from all over the world. Teaching enables me to make a difference in someone's life which goes far beyond knowledge. I have been teaching English for over 10 years working with groups and individuals of all ages giving them interesting and fun opportunities to learn and improve their command of English. English opens doors into a world of opportunities, so let’s learn it in a fun and engaging way!
