English for Au Pairs

Our English for Au Pairs Program is accredited by ACCET and is intended for Au Pairs to satisfy the requirements of their J1 visa.​

Classes

Online Only Classes

If a student plans to take classes online, they must have a laptop/computer/tablet to access Zoom. They will also need a webcam and a microphone to interact and communicate with teachers and classmates.

  • English Communications                       â€‹

    • 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday through Thursday 

    • Au Pairs can complete 6 credits in 6 weeks with this class (4 days per week).

    • B1-B2+ level

    • This class is intermediate. The focus is on developing the student’s listening and comprehension skills to communicate in social and intercultural situations. This is done through active participation and the building of their vocabulary and grammar in context. The class increases the student’s understanding of American culture and causal interactions using real-life situations.​​

Hybrid Classes

Hybrid classes are both available online and in person. Students can choose when and how often they want to come in person and when they want to join online at home.

 

If a student plans to take classes online, they must have a laptop/computer/tablet to access Zoom. They will also need a webcam and a microphone to interact and communicate with teachers and classmates.

  • Intermediate English Communication

    • 6 - 7:45 pm, Monday and Wednesday OR  Tuesday and Thursday 

    • Can complete 6 credits in 18 weeks (2 classes per week).​

    • B1 - B2 level

    • An intermediate class focusing on developing student’s listening and comprehension skills to communicate in social situations. This is done through active participation and the building of their vocabulary and grammar in context. The class increases the student’s understanding of American culture and casual interactions using real-life situations. â€‹

  • Advanced English Communication 

    • 5:30 - 8:15 pm, Monday and Wednesday OR Tuesday and Thursday ​

    • Can complete 6 credits in 12 weeks (2 classes per week).​

    • B2 - C2 level

    • This is an advanced class. The focus is on developing the student’s listening and comprehension skills to communicate in social situations. This is done through active participation and the building of their vocabulary and grammar in context. The class increases the student’s understanding of American culture and casual interactions using real-life situations.

Not all in-person classes are available at all times.  After you complete the placement tests, you will be given a list of classes to choose from based on your English level and class size. 

Program Length

Your credits are earned by the number of hours you are in class. Your program length will depend on how many classes you take.

Start Dates

Colorado School of English is an open enrollment school. We have many start dates throughout the year.

 

Students may start In-person classes at term start dates (every 4 weeks). Students may start online or hybrid classes as soon as they complete the registration steps.

How to start

1. Apply Online https://englishamerica.classreach.com/apply

2. Pay the Invoice. Students need to pay at least the application fee in order to take the placement tests.

2. Take Placement Tests to Assess English Level. We will send the placement tests via email. Students can take them online (or they can take them at the school).

3. Complete ClassReach Profile. The online school account is where students will find class assignments, zoom links, and other helpful materials. Students will need to complete their profile on ClassReach before starting classes. 

4. Choose Classes. Students can choose the classes that work with their schedule and according to their English level.  

5. Start the program!
