Can you help me prepare for the TOEFL Test?

Absolutely! We have helped many students successfully prepare for the TOEFL test in order to achieve their higher education dreams. We have a TOEFL Preparation course Monday through Thursday from 1:05pm to 2:35pm. We also have an Evening TOEFL Preparation course on Monday and Wednesday nights.

What is the TOEFL?

The TOEFL is a standardized test for English language learners. The test is accepted at over 11,000 universities and institutions around the world. It measures all 4 skills: reading, writing, speaking, & listening (source).

The test is completed on a computer, either at a testing center or possibly at your own home if testing centers are not open in your area. If you're able to take the test at your home, there are certain technology requirements you must keep in mind. You can see more about the technology and environment requirements for the TOEFL iBT Home Edition here.

Why should I take the TOEFL?

Because the TOEFL test is accepted by over 11,000 institutions around the world, it's a great tool to showcase your English skills. You can use your scores to gain admission to a college or university, or to show a potential employer where your English stands.

How do I sign up for the test?

You must register in advanced to take the TOEFL test. You should sign up to take the test on a date that is at least 2 or 3 months before your earliest deadline (ex: university applications). The easiest way to register is to create an ETS account and sign up using their website. You can see how to do this here.

If you're taking the test in the United States, you must have a valid form of ID with your full name, picture, and signature. Your full name listed on your ID must exactly match the name you used to register or you will not be able to take the test.

How much does the TOEFL test cost?

Testing fees vary by location. As of April 13, 2021, the cost for the TOEFL iBT test in Denver is $225. The test is usually offered on Fridays and Saturdays in Denver, but you can see the most up to date schedule information here. There is a fee of $60 if you need to reschedule your test.

When will I get my scores?

You can view your test results online approximately 6 days after test day. Your scores are valid for 2 years. If you're applying for an institution, you can have the scores sent directly to them. Your test registration fee includes up to 4 free reports to be sent to the recipient of your choice. You can do this in your ETS account. If you'd like your report to be sent to additional recipients, there is a $20 fee. You can see more about sending your scores here.

What do my scores mean?

You will receive a separate score for each skill. Each skill is scored from 0 to 30 points. Combined, your total score will be from 0 to 120 points. You can see how your score translates to proficiency levels here.

Each school will have their own TOEFL test score requirement. You should check with the school you are applying to for their requirements. Generally, the more competitive a school is, the higher the TOEFL score they require. For example, Community College of Denver requires a score of 57 on the TOEFL iBT. University of Colorado, Denver requires a score of 79.
